Well, if you made that bet, YOU LOSE. Good day, SIR!
Actually, this journal is more for me than anything. I've got a good chunk of it done, I've got one week to finish the following:
1. Cut elastic for sleeves, pants ankles and boot ankles.
2. Sew duck-bill and stuff the front lip of it.
3. Attach duck-bill to hood.
4. Sew lining and hood together (turn right side out and stitch opening) and attach velcro.
5. Sew, stuff, and attach eyes to hood. (hood will then be done)
6. Figure out how exactly I want to do the webbed feet with the interfacing.
7. Do that.
8. Slip elastic into the boot ankles and sew up the back. (boots done)
9. slip elastic into sleeves and stitch underarms down to legs.
10. press under pant ankles to make elastic casing.
11. slip elastic into pant ankles.
12. Stitch final inseam. (main body suit finished)
13. Sew platypus tail with batting.
14. turn inside out.
15. Stitch to body suit. Costume done.
Yeah. That's doable. #6 and 7 will be the tricky ones.... I keep looking at it and scratching my head. See, the pattern is a full-booted foot, but I don't want a full boot, I want her actual shoe touching the pavement... not stepping on fabric. I think I know how I want to do it, but I just need to figure out how to fix the sewing steps to get it there.
One week left. If I get a good sewing day in either tomorrow (today) or Sunday, I should be able to have it done on or before Wednesday. I've been limited from when Raie goes to sleep until I get too tired to stay awake because she likes to play with my sewing machine and it's impossible to sew with her constantly trying to play with it.
**UPDATES**
Well, I didn't get to work on it at all on Sunday because I was really tired and just wanted to go to bed, but.... here's what's left to do:
1. Stitch on second eye, attach velcro and hand stitch the remaining lining of the hood. Press. Hood will then be done.
2. Create casing for elastic for body suit legs, insert elastic, stitch inseam. Press. Main body done and ready for:
3. Stitch tail together and sew it on the main body.
4. Finish bottom of feet, insert stiff lining on the vamp of the footies, stitch up backing. Costume finished.
Yeah. it's not really a heck of a lot. 2, maybe 3 more nights of work. We'll see.
